ASEAN Militaries' Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR)
The ASEAN Militaries' Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise was co-hosted by the militaries of Singapore and Indonesia from 12 to 14 July 2011. During this exercise, the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Indonesian Military TNI medical teams provided medical and surgical care for the local Indonesians in Cilodong, West Java.

Dr Tan Ying Chien, consultant plastic surgeon at The Sloane Clinic was proud to be a part of this meaningful exercise as he lent his surgical expertise to the disadvantaged locals of Cilodong. In particular, he operated on the cleft lip of a shy five year old girl, restoring her smile and bringing immense joy and relief to her family. He further operated on and removed a disfiguring lump from the forehead of a local gentleman.
The Sloane Clinic believes that the poor and disadvantaged are much more than just statistics; they are real people with individual faces, voices, hopes and dreams. No one should be forgotten. No disfigurement is too small or too big. If we can bring a smile to the face of just one person, or renew the hopes of just one child, our mission would have been accomplished.
